The 2001 UK Census ethnic groups include White British, White Other, Mixed Race, Asian British, Black British and Chinese or other ethnic group. The term \'other\' is fairly controversial, as some people may consider themselves belonging to another ethnic groups (i.e. Latin Americans as White Other or Filipinos as Other Asian, when this term refers to South Asian people who are not of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi descent). In the 2001 Census 230,615 people in the UK (or 0.4% of the population) ticked the \'Other Ethnic Group\' box, however recent estimates state that over 3,043,000 people in the UK would apply to this term (Over 5% of the country\'s population).
